Plastika Kritis 2025 new greenhouse film launches

Innovative solutions designed to boost productivity, enhance crop quality, and support sustainable farming practices.

Plastika Kritis continues to lead in greenhouse innovation with the launch of four next-generation greenhouse films. These innovations are designed to boost productivity, enhance crop quality, and support sustainable farming practices. These new products offer precision climate control, enhanced light management, and energy efficiency—boosting crop yield, quality, and sustainability across a range of growing conditions:

  1. Suncooler® – Cooling films with high light transmission for hot climates, using NIR additives to lower temperatures and improve crop health.
  2. Polydispersive® – Ultra-high diffusion films that provide uniform light distribution without sacrificing transmission, ideal for areas with high heat and radiation.
  3. EVO AC® AR – Anti-reflective films with light transmittance surpassing 93%, especially effective in low-angle sunlight conditions, improving earliness and yield.
  4. CHAMELEON® – Smart films that shift between clear and diffused modes based on humidity, optimizing light levels and plant protection throughout the day.

1. Suncooler®: Cooling films with very high light transmission for warm climates

Plastika Kritis has recently launched its latest innovation, the Suncooler® range of cooling greenhouse films, designed specifically to address the challenges of high temperatures in warm climates. Utilizing cutting-edge nanotechnology and advanced Near-Infrared (NIR) additives, these films effectively absorb and dissipate heat while maintaining high levels of light transmission, ensuring optimal greenhouse temperature control for improved crop yields. By regulating greenhouse temperatures, this innovation provides a range of benefits that boost crop quality, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Key Benefits of Suncooler® Films:

  • Enhanced crop development and yield
  • Better produce quality
  • Safer, more comfortable working conditions
  • Reduced water and energy consumption
  • Extended growing seasons and year-round production
  • Lower operational costs
  • Improved pest and disease control
  • Adaptability to climate change

2. Polydispersive: Ultra-high diffusion films with very high light transmission

Light diffusion improves uniform light distribution in the greenhouse, reducing shadows and preventing plant burns. It also enhances growth in dense crops, limited-space greenhouses, and vertical farming.

Polydispersive greenhouse films are very high diffusion films with that cause perfect scattering of sunrays without affecting the global light transmittance (>91%). With special materials in the film the diffusion/scattering of light achieved is more uniform, resulting in a more uniform dispersion of light inside the greenhouse

Why Choose Polydispersive films?

If you are in an area with high radiation or long periods of intense sunlight and have dense cropping systems and vertical crops, the Plastika Kritis Polydispersive films are ideal. They will provide a better softer growing environment and protection from scorching while ensuring maximum amount of light. Polydispersive films are available in medium and high diffusion levels to suit different crop types.

Key Benefits of Polydispersive films:

  • Higher yields
  • Earlier production
  • Reduced scotching
  • Better quality production
  • Reduced temperatures and energy loads
  • Reduction or elimination of white-painting during hot months

A perfect scattering of sunrays is achieved to prevent shadows and scorching.

3. EVO AC® AR: Films with antireflective properties that increase light transmission

The new film, EVO AC® AR, comprises a specially treated surface that modifies the interface between air and polyethylene, thus decreasing the portion of light that is reflected by the film and leading to higher levels of light entering the greenhouse, thus increasing light-transmittance from a typical 91% to over 93%.

Measurements at Wageningen University demonstrate that the increase in light transmittance with EVO AC® AR is more pronounced at low angles of incident light, meaning that the gain is higher when the light is more needed: during wintertime and at the early and late hours of the day - crucial for earliness and crop yields.

Proven Field Results:

Trials on strawberry cultivations showed an earliness of 15 days during the most critical months for the revenue of the farm.

At the same time, EVO AC® AR films offer the longest lasting anti-dripping (Anti-Condensate) function without fog. The film exists in both crystal and diffusing versions, and the choice depends on the type of greenhouse, area and crop.

4. CHAMELEON®: Films that change diffusion levels depending on greenhouse conditions

CHAMELEON® greenhouse films dynamically adapt to humidity conditions. They can change from clear to high diffusing, depending on the humidity of the film surface. During early morning hours or humid and cloudy days, the film’s surface is wet and the film transforms to clear with low light diffusion effect, thus maximum direct light enters inside the greenhouse. As the sun rises and the film’s surface gets dry or during warm and dry periods of the year the film transforms to hazy with very high light diffusion avoiding the direct light entering inside the greenhouse.

  • During warm & dry hours of the day, high diffusion protects plants from strong sun - rays and scorching
  • During cold & humid days, or cold hours of the day, condensation on the film turns it to clear to maximize the use of available light

Benefits of Smart CHAMELEON® Films:

  • Maximizes light during low-light conditions
  • Protects crops from intense sun exposure during dry periods
  • Improves overall plant health and growth efficiency
